Paul E. Berndt, 71, of 382 Niagara
street, North Tonawanda,
died yesterday afternoon in the
Millard Fillmore hospital, Buffalo,
after a prolonged illness. Born to
Germany, he had resided here for
for the past 69 years. He is survived
by his wife, Johanna,
Snow; a son, Henry of North
Tonawanda;; a grandson, Robert
Berndt, U.S.N., stationed at Brooklyn;
two stepsons, John Haas of
Sanborn and Edward Hass of
Lockport; two stepdaughters, Mrs.
John Wendt of North Tonawanda
and Mrs. Frank Geltz of Tonawanda,
and five brothers, Ernest of
North Tonawanda, John of Cambria,
Edward of St. Catharines,
William of Warsaw and Frank of
Niagara Falls. Mr. Berndt was a
member of the Grace Lutheran
church and the Brotherhood of the
church. He was also affiliated with
Lumber City Circle, No. 403, Protected
Home Circle. Rites will be
held Wednesday afternoon at 2
o'clock from the residence. The
Rev. Herman Miller will officiate
and burial will be in St. Matthew's
cemetery.
