- Professor Emeritus of Education at Methodist College [now Methodist University], Fayetteville, NC; also Vice-President for Academic Affairs. While at Methodist he was a great supporter of arts programs, playing with the college jazz band and taking roles in theatre productions. After his retirement from Methodist College in 2003, he answered the call to preach at Parkton United Methodist Church in Robeson County. He was a Major in the Army Reserve and served on the boards of several community organizations in Fayetteville, including the Highlands Chapter of the American Red Cross and Fayetteville Community Concerts.
Anthony James DeLapa was born on September 24, 1936 at Lockport Memorial Hospital in Lockport, New York. He was the son of Anthony DeLapa and Mary (Annalora) DeLapa, both of Italian descent. Anthony graduated from Lockport High School in 1934. Anthony passed away on January 6, 2005, in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
