- Joseph Maggi, 89, of Niagara Falls, NY passed away on Monday, May 4, 2015 at N.F. Memorial Medical Center. Born in L’Aquila, Italy he was the son of the late Giacomo and Maria Maggi.
Joseph was educated in Italy and on November 7, 1953 he married Florence (Rizzuto) Maggi at St. Patrick’s Church in Canada. Mrs. Maggi predeceased him on May 9, 2012. Joe was a member of the Laborer’s Local Union 91 in Niagara Falls, NY and worked as a laborer at various area construction sites for more than thirty years until retiring. He was also a member of the Cristoforo Colombo Society and the Hyde Park Bocce League both in Niagara Falls, NY. One of Joseph’s greatest pleasures was spending time with his friends at McDonald’s on Pine Avenue in Niagara Falls. He also enjoyed tending to his garden and playing cards.
Mr. Maggi is survived by two sons Jack (Beth) Maggi of the Town of Niagara and Joseph Maggi; two grandsons Joseph William (fiancée Kristen DeMarco) and Nicholas Anthony Maggi; two sisters Bianca Maggi and Elana Maggi both of Italy and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by three brothers.
Visitation will be on Wednesday from 5 - 8 p.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, May 7th at 10 a.m. at Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph at St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Duane Klizek officiating. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 315 Alberta Drive, Suite 102, Amherst, NY 14228.
