- Gerald P. Blundy, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully Saturday, August 8, 2015, in Veteran Administration Medical Center, Buffalo, NY. He was born in Niagara Falls, NY on April 10, 1945, the son of the late Peter G. and Jessie May (Bolger) Blundy.
Mr. Blundy served his country in the United States Army during Vietnam and the U.S. National Guard of New York. He was employed as an Acting Sargent of Security at Niagara University for many years. Gerry served as the Senior Vice President of the VFW Post 917 LaSalle Griffon, where he tended bar and often cooked holiday meals for those that would not have had one. He was an avid fishermen and enjoyed boating. Mr. Blundy always went above and beyond the call of duty for his job, family and friends. He will be remembered for his big heart and sense of humor.
Mr. Blundy is survived by his sisters Irene (late Rod) Giles, Mildred (Lee) Pasquinelli, many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was the brother of the late Peter Blundy, Shirley O'Donnell, Margaret Markle, Ruth Poulos and Thelma Maloney.
The family will be present on Thursday from 6-8 PM at RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 1124 Ontario Avenue, NIAGARA FALLS, NY, where funeral services will be held Friday at 8:45 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM at St. Mary of the Cataract Church, with Rev. Jacek P. Mazur officiating.
