Tall cathedral candles formed the
impressive background for the marriage
vows taken Sunday afternoon
at 4 o'clock at the First Unitarian
church, when Miss Margaret Lois
Johns, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Harry Bruce Johns, of McKoon
avenue, became the bride of Mr.
Kenneth Marvin Bovee, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Ben A. Bovee, of Seventyfourth
.street.
Laurel and evergreen were effectively
used with tall red tapers
for the decorations of the church.
The Rev. Robert B. Day, pastor
of the church, officiated at the
ceremony. Mrs. Leroy E. Fowler, at
the organ, played Lohengrin's and
the well loved Mendlesohn's wedding
marches.
The bride, who was given in
marriage by her father, wore a
becoming gown of ivory angel skin
taffeta made with extremely full
skirt, falling In, a short train with
wide girdle and'short puffed sleeves.
Her fingertip veil fell from a cluster
of tiny orange blossoms and she
carried a cascade bouquet of white
carnations and lUies-of-the-valley.
Miss Mary Wolf, her maid of
honor wore an aqua taffeta violettrimmed
gown with full skirt and
short puffed sleeves. She carried
Reuben lilies, tied with pink and
silver chiffon.
Miss Frances Bovee and Miss
Mildred Bovee, sisters of the bridegroom,
wore gowns made on similar
lines, the former in blue and
silver bodice with matching tulle
skirt and the latter in pink and
silver. Each carried roses and chrysanthemums,
Mr. Grant Johns, brother of the
bride, was the best man and the
ushers were Mr. Jack Rennie, Mr.
Glenn Johns, a brother of the bride.
Mr. Donald Green, of the city.
and Mr. John Shandley, of Ann
Arbor, Mich.
Mrs. Johns wore a gown of grape
silk, with matching velvet trim,
and a corsage of mixed flowers.
Mrs. Bovee, mother of the bride-
groom, wore a becoming gown of
brown, with matching hat, and a
corsage of mixed flowers
Immediately after the ceremony
a reception for over 125 guests
was held in the parlors of the
church, where holiday decorations i
were used at tables set for the
buffet supper. At the bride's table
A four-tier wedding cake, banked
with white flowers, centered the
table, ivory tapers furnishing the
soft candlelight.
Later in the evening Mr. and
Mrs. Bovee left for Ann Arbor,
Mich. where they will reside and
Mr. Bovee will resume his studies
at the University of Michigan. The
bride traveled in a frock of green
wool, with with wine trim. Her green
coat, with fox, had a matching
muff and green accessories
Among the out-of-town guests at-
tending the wedding were Mr. and
Mrs. G. A. Hughes, aunt and uncle
of the bride, and Mr. Jack Wende,
of Buffalo; Mr. John Shandler, of
Ann Arbor, Mich.; Mr. and Mrs.
A. C. Harlow, uncle and aunt of
the bride and Miss Lucile Harlow,
of Kenmore.
Those entertaining for the popu-
lar bride were Miss Jane Harring-
ton, Miss Mary Wolf, Miss Ruth
Pierce, Miss Rita Niger and the
girls of the Out Door club. A din-
ner party was given for the mem-
bers of the wedding on Friday eve-
ning December 29 by Miss Laura
???? of the Lochiel apartments,
after the wedding rehearsal.
