The First Presbyterian Church was the setting for
the double-ring wedding ceremony Saturday evening at
7.30 uniting in marriage Miss Joan Ann Flechsenhaar
and Leonard Lester Bower. The candlelight service was
performed by Dr. Stephen E. Palmer before the altar
enhanced by two vases of red and white gladioli
and fern.
Mr. and Mrs George Edward
Flechsenhaar of 98 Church St.
are the parents of the bride. The
groom's parents are Mr. and
Mrs. Lester Bower of the Mover
Rd., Lockport.
The bride was given in msrriage
by her father. A bateau
neckline, trimmed with alencon
lace, distinguished the fitted bodice
of the silk organza gown worn
by the bride. Lace appliques detailed
the floor-length skirt beaded
with pearls.
Her veil of silk illusion was
caught to a coronet of seed pearls
and sequins. She carried a cascade
bouquet of white roses and
shasta daisies sprinkled with ivy.
HONOR ATTENDANT
As her honor attendant, the
bride chose Mrs. Jacob A. Schaber.
She wore a gown of aqua
silk organza fashioned with a
scoop neckline, cummerbund and
fly-away panels. The bouffant
skirt was cocktail-length. An aqua
headband with matching forgetme-
nots, studded with tiny
pearls, completed her attire and
she carried a cascade bouquet of
yellow and white shasta daisies
sprinkled with ivy.
Identically attired to that of
the honor attendant were the
bridesmaids, Mrs. James W. Bennett,
and the Misses Jane Bye,
Carolyn Walker and Joyce Bower,
sister of the groom. They carried
cascade bouquets of yellow
shasta daisies sprinkled with ivy.
A cousin of the bride, Susan
Mollosky. was the flower girl. Her
dress was of coral silk organza
fashioned with a sweetheart neckline
and full skirt. She wore a
headband of yellow and white
shasta daisies, and carried a miniature
bouquet like that of the
honor attendant.
Best man was Jacob A. Schaber.
Ushers were Fred Haas,
Kenneth Covel, Paul Tothill and
Milton Bower, brother of the
groom.
James Todkill of Barker, soloist,
was accompanied at the organ
by Mrs. Ferrin Fraser.
For her daughter's wedding,
Mrs. Flechsenhaar favored an
orlon sheath turquoise dress with
white polka dots and whits accessories-
The groom's mother chose
a pink end blue flowered print
nylon dress with white accessories.
Pink sweetheart rose corsages
completed their attire. A
pink sweetheart rose corsage
complemented the attire of the
bride's grandmother, Mrs.
Charles Flechsenhaar.
400 GUESTS
A reception for 400 guests was
held at 8:30 at the South Lockport
Recreation Hall where buffet
refreshments were served.
The attendants' bouquets, greens
and a centerpiece of gladioli decorated
the bride's table. A separate
table, covered with a turquoise
cloth, held the four-tiered
wedding cake topped with a miniature
bride and groom.
When the couple left for a trip
to Kentucky and Tennessee, the
bride was wearing a black and
white checked sheath dress, white
accessories and a corsage of red
sweetheart roses. They will reside
at 12 Grosvenor St.
Guests were from Syracuse,
Rochester, Buffalo and Akron.
The bride was graduated from
Lockport Senior High School and
the groom from Akron Central
School.
The bride was honored at va
riety showers given by Mrs. Ed
win Stern at her home on the
Simms Rd., and by the Misses
Jane Bye. Carolyn Walker and
Mrs. James W. Bennett at tile
home of Mrs. Bennett on the Day
Rd. A linen shower was held by
the bride's aunt, Mrs. Raymond
Webster of 39 Hill St. and the rehearsal
party was held at the
home of the groom's parents.
