CARTHAGE - Bert E.
Ellis, jr., 36. of Ridge road.
Natural Bridge, an employe
of Northeast Constructors,
Inc., Gouvemeur, and the father
of five children, who
had suffered from a heart
a i l m e n t , was pronounced
dead on arrival at Carthage
Area hospital shortly after
noon Thursday. Death was
attributed to a heart attack.
The funeral will be Sun
day at 2 p.m. at the Natural
Bridge United M e t h o d i st
church, following a private
prayer service at 1 p.m. at
the McGraw funeral home
Rev. Gerald L. Schlernitzaur.
pastor, will officiate. Spring
burial will be in Hillside]
cemetery, Natural Bridge'.
Friends may call at the
McGraw funeral home from
2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., today,
and 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.,
Saturday.
Mr. Ellis is survived by his
wife, Mrs. Charlotte Hubbard
Ellis; five children, Edward,
12. Laurie. 10. Kimberly, 11,
Thomas. 8, and Denise, 6:
five half-brothers, Fred and
John Gill. Carthage, George
Gill. Lockport. Charles Gill.
Natural Bridge and Basil
Bray. Carthage; two tialf-sisters.
Mrs. Roscoe (Isabelle)
Nicholls, Rome and Mrs. Oscar
(Ida) Murdock, Natural
Bridge.
Born in Lewisburg in the
town of Diana. Sept. 20.
1932. Mr. Ellis was the son of
the late Bert E. and Nellie
Cooper Ellis. He attended
Natural Bridge and Harrisville
schools.
He served in the army
from Feb. 14, 1952, until Jan.
23, 1954, with 17 months of
that time in Germany. He
married Miss Charlotte Hub-
bard Jan. 28, 1956, in the
Harrisville Methodist church
parsonage with Rev. Howard
Gabriel, then pastor, officiat-
ing.
Mr. Elis was a member of
Locall 322, laborers' union.
