Doris A. Kraatz, of Middleport passed away Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at the Orchard Manor Nursing Home in Medina, NY. Mrs. Kraatz was born in the Town of Royalton on January 17, 1922, daughter of the late Frank and Hattie (Eick) Duchow and she has lived in Middleport all of her life. She was employed as a cafeteria worker at the Middleport Elementary School. She was a Charter member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, taught Sunday School and was also on the Church Board at Holy Cross. She collected antique and porcelain dolls, enjoyed being a homemaker, baking and she enjoyed her family and her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur G. Kraatz in 2000; a son, Clay Kraatz in 1983; and by two sisters, Violet Quintern and Eunice Velesko. She is survived by a daughter, Melane (John) Shuttleworth of Middleport; and a son, Larry (Janine) Kraatz of Holley; also surviving are six grandchildren, Amy (Thomas) Conley of Middleport, Heidi (Justin) Collins of Ohio, Stephen Shuttleworth of Nevada, Taramarie Kraatz, Katie Kraatz and Felicia Kraatz, all of Holley; five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a daughter-in-law, Donna. Friends may call Saturday from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Rt. 31, Middleport, where funeral services will follow at 3:00 PM with the Rev. David Triplett officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, West Shelby, NY. Memorials to Holy Cross Lutheran Church or the Middleport Free Library would be appreciated by the Kraatz family.
