Notes |
- Lydia Garvey passed away peacefully at her home on November 27, 2020.
Lydia lived in this area her entire life. She graduated from NFHS in 1951 and was married to James Garvey from 1957 until his death in 2016. For almost two decades Lydia was a member of The Moongotchas Club, which consisted of her dearest friends. Lydia lived life to the fullest and at 88 still played poker every Saturday with her poker club and was an active member of her book club. Although she was the oldest member (by far) of both clubs, she was always the last one to end the evening. Lydia was an avid news and politics observer. She loved reading, gaming and socializing with her grandchildren, beloved nieces, nephews and friends. She will be missed more than words can convey.
Lydia is survived by her children, Gail (Salvatore) Amato and Keith (Christena) Garvey; her son James "Jimmy" Garvey predeceased her. Lydia is survived by six grandchildren, Beth (Tim) Good, Christopher (Angela) Amato, Michael (Jennifer) Amato, Alex (Jessica) Amato, Kaitlyn (Joe) Nicholas and Elizabeth (Michael) Seelbinder. Lydia is also survived by eleven great-grandchildren; and many very special nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and son, Lydia is predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Agata Eleuteri; her siblings, Columba "Collie" (Biagio) Castiglione, Anthony Eleuteri, Clara (Angelo) Nicoletti and Madeline Carver.
A Mass and luncheon will be held in the spring.
