- Son of Martin and Catherine Lux
Earth to earth, dust to dust, ashes
to ashes, and the spirit shall return
unto God Who gave it. No more
pain, no more sorrow, but forever
rest.
At half past six in the evening of
Dec. 9, 1909, Mr. Peter Lux passed
peacefully away at the age of 75
years, 5 months and 10 days. Mr.
Lux was one of the pioneers of this
vicinity, having been born June 29,
1834, in the same home in which he
died. Although he had been ill for
some time, the end came rather suddenly.
The deceased had many friends,
being of a jovial disposition, ever
ready to give words of cheer to the
distressed and lend a helping hand
to those in need. Truly it can be
said of him he was a good neighbor.
He leaves to mourn his loss three
children, Emil and Mrs. Dennis
Fernbach of Forks and Bertha at
home.
The funeral services were held at
the Chapel, Mary Help of Christians,
Monday, Dec. 13, Rev. Father
Scherer officiating. Interment took
place at the Chapel cemetery. The
large attendance of relatives and
friends, notwithstanding the inclement
weather, testified to the
love and esteem in which . the de -
ceased was held. The deceased was
a member of the Alsace and Loraine
Benevolent Society of which, four of
the leading members acted as honorable
bearers, the active bearers
being his grand-children, Edward
and Albert Lux, Edward, John,
Emil and Joseph Fernbach. The
deceased was also a member of the
G. A. R. Chapin Post, No. 2 .
