SCIO - Wilma J. Carl, 67, of the Vandermark
Road died Sunday (March 26,
1995) in Jones Memorial Hospital,
Wellsville, after a long illness.
Born March 23. 1928, in Greenwood,
she was a daughter of Archie and
Martha Rice Kernan. On Dec. 11 1963,
in Wilkes-Barre, PA, she married Donald
B. Carl, who survives.
Mrs. Carl lived in Byron before moving
to Scio in 1987.
Since 1988 she had been employed
by the Green Thumb Program on the
campus of Alfred State College, and
she and her husband were caretakers of
Fairlawn Cemetery in Scio.
Mrs. Carl was a member of the
Ladies of the Moose Lodge in Wellsville
Surviving besides her husband are
five daughters, Beverly (Fred) Combs
and Marlene Lewis, both of Canisteo.
Joy Bowers of Tioga, PA, Arlene
(Ralph) Eldridge of Cameron and Vickey
(Jeffrey) Worthington of Batavia, three
sons. Sterling Lewis of Hammondsport,
Lee (Sharon) Carl of Little Marsh, PA,
and Lynn (Renee) Carl of Atlanta, GA;
13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren;
two brothers, John (Mary) Kernan
of Canisteo and Archie (Jane) Kernan of
Lindley; a sister, Audrey (Milton) Newberry
of Abingdon, VA; and several
nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a sister,
Erma Lehman of Hornell.
