Notes |
- Ernst was the son of Jacob Mayer, 1864-1927, son of Jacob Mayer, who also was the father of Albert Mayer, the one who adopted Ernst. Ernst was therefore a nephew of Albert. Albert and Katharina had one child born after their marriage in 1911. That child was crippled and died at age 4-6. Albert somehow convinced his brother Jacob to allow him and Katharina to adopt Ernst who was born in Chur, Swizerland.
Ernst took over his adoptive father's cabinetry business in 1949 and expanded it greatly. He named it ERMA. He sold this business in 1968 at which time he employed 120 individuals. Business now goes under a new name, but is still situated in Mundingen (1996).
