Mrs. Mary Balls, 99, one of the oldest residents of the Town of Yates, died late Friday (April 29, 1966) in Poler Nursing Home in Medina. She had been ill since early January.Born in Germany, Dec. 2,1866, she was the daughter of Charles and Minnie Yahnke Shilling. The family came to the U.S. when she was a small child and settled in this area.On Dec . 5, 1899, she was married to William Balls. They established their home in the vicinity of the one on Marshall Road, where they spent the rest of their married life. Until her illness, Mrs. Balls continued to maintain the home by herself.She was a member of the Lyndonville Presbyterian Church for over fifty years.Surviving are one daughter,Mrs. Charles (Hattie) McComb,of Murdock Road, Lyndonville; one grandson, Donald McComb; one brother, Elmer Schilling of Medina; two nieces and one nephew.Funeral services will be held in the Smythe Funeral Homeat 2 p.m., Monday, by the Rev.Richard Billingsley, pastor of the Lyndonville Presbyterian Church.Burial will be in the West Ridgeway Cemetery.Friends ma y call at the Smythe Funeral Home from 7-9 p.m. today and from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Sunday.
