James K. Shingledecker, age 63, of North Tonawanda, died Monday, August 6, 2018 at his residence after a long illness. Born September 1, 1954 in the Town of Tonawanda, he was the son of the late James and Betty (nee Witkopf) Shingledecker. A lifelong resident of the Tonawandas, he worked construction until becoming ill.
He was the husband of Nancy (nee Solack) Shingledecker; father of Hope Linville of Amherst, Bridgette (Bruce Howitt) Alringer of Depew, Jolene (Sebastian) Zirilli of Tonawanda, Jacob (Lisa) Shingledecker of North Tonawanda, and the late Robert Linville and James P. Shingledecker; brother of Terri Maracle of Canada, Frank Shingledecker of North Tonawanda, Andy (Cynthia) Shingledecker of Tonawanda, Malissa (Michael) Kuntz of North Tonawanda, Norman Shingledecker of Tonawanda, Jessie Shingledecker of Cheektowaga, Billy (Patty) Shingledecker of Akron, Florence Matters of North Tonawanda, and the late Harold Shingledecker and Bonnie Matthews; and nephew of Alice Lorich of North Tonawanda. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
There is no visitation. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 1 at Veteran's Park Shelter #1 on Niagara Street in Tonawanda, beginning at 12 Noon. Friends invited. If desired, memorials to help the family are preferred.
