Peter E. Hatalak, 78, of Niagara Falls, NY, peacefully entered into eternal rest on September 19, 2023, surrounded by loved ones. Peter was born on March 7, 1945 in Niagara Falls, NY to the late John and Jessie (Winiarski) Hatalak.
Peter attended local schools and graduated from LaSalle Senior High School in 1963. He continued onto college and graduated from University of Buffalo with his Bachelor’s Degree and Niagara University with his Master’s Degree.
Peter taught at various local schools for the Niagara Falls Board of Education where he retired in 2000. After retiring he continued teaching at Niagara County Community College and Niagara University. Peter also was a loved bus driver for Empower for many years.
Peter enjoyed reading, frog racing at the Elk’s Club, was a holistic health advocate and loved tending to his vegetable gardens. He was an avid boater his whole life. He loved being in or on the water and was affectionately known as a “Niagara River Rat” during his childhood and was always very proud of that title. He enjoyed spending time with his family, working on his boat and enjoying a cold Corona on the dock.
Peter leaves behind his sons, Thomas R. and Michael W. Hatalak of Niagara Falls; former spouse, Cynthia (Kresman) Hatalak of Niagara Falls; longtime companion and caregiver, Karen A. Fabiano along with her children, Steven and Thomas Fabiano all of Niagara Falls; sister, Carol (Raul) Perez of San Antonio, Texas and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, John (Judith) Hatalak.
Private services are being held with his family and close friends. If desired, memorial offerings may be made to Niagara Hospice and/or Niagara County SPCA.
