Zelda Ruth Mathew, 80, Lafayette
She was a resident of Rensselaer since 1978
Zelda Ruth Mathew, 80, Lafayette, died Thursday, March 1, 2007, at her home.
She was born on Nov. 29, 1926, in Chalmers to Robert and Vallie (Spear) Wiese. She married Isidore H. "Izzy" Mathew on April 7, 1945, in Remington. He survives.
She was a resident of Rensselaer since 1978, moving to Lafayette three months ago. She was a graduate of Wolcott High School. She was a homemaker and a marketing agent at Shoppe News, Yorkville, Ill., for seven years. She was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Rensselaer.
Other survivors include daughters, Barbara Ann (Bob) Poindexter, Lafayette, Patricia Kay Mathew, Onalaska, Wis., and Susan (Norm) Greenburg, Onarga, Ill.; sons, James A. (Marie) Mathew, Aurora, Ill., Bruce (Cindy) Mathew, Onalaska, Wis., and Roger W. Mathew, Rensselaer; 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. (CST) with prayer services at 6 p.m. (CST) Monday at Jackson Funeral Home Chapel, Rensselaer. Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. (CST) Tuesday at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Rensselaer, with Father Mark Peres officiating. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Remington.
