- NIAGARA FALLS - A funeral service for Philip J. Hildebrandt, 78, a World War II veteran and retired Grief Bros. employee, will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in St. Stanislaud Kostka Catholic Church, 2437 Niagara St. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston.
Hildebrandt died Saturday (Aug. 1, 1992) in his Stphenson Avenue home after a long illness.
Born in Niagara Falls, he served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army's 488th Port Battalion during World War II. In 1978, he retired as a cooper from Greif Bros. after more than 40 years of service.
He was a lie member of the 488th Port Battalion Association and the Anzio Beachhead Veterans Association. He also was a member of LaSalle Post 1142, American Legion; the Independent order of Odd Fellows; the Retired Men's Service Club on Hyde Park Boulevard and of the Steel Workers Organization of Active Retirees.
He is survived by a daughter, Phyllis Miller; a stepson, Thomas Williamson of Ithaca; two step-daughters, Gail Crooks of Amherst and Wanda Haines of New Jersey; a brother, Harold Britton; a granddaughter, and four step-grandchildren.
