Laverne R. Bugs Brydges, 85, of Niagara Falls, Niagara County, NY entered into rest on Saturday, October 21, 2006, in Erie County Medical Center, Buffalo, Erie County, NY. Born on September 4, 1921, in Niagara Falls, Niagara County, NY, he was the son of the late Arthur and Cora (Dixon) Brydges. On October 15, 1948 he married the former Marie Wells. She predeceased him on February 2, 1989.
Mr. Brydges was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, Niagara County, NY, and attended local schools. Laverne served in the United States Army, during World War II, from November 2, 1942 until his honorable discharge on January 21, 1946. Mr. Brydges worked as a welder and was employed by Niagara Welding and Industrial Welding. He enjoyed gardening and was an avid football fan.
Mr. Brydges is survived by two step-sons; Ronald and Robert Seip, both of Florida, three step-granddaughters; Kim, JoAnna, and Tammy, and five step-great-grandchildren. Laverne is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by two sisters; Evelyn (late Cecil) Cowling, Olive (late William) Malaney, and five brothers; Arthur (late Winifred) Brydges, Clyde (late Marie) Brydges, Gerald (late Violet) Brydges, George Brydges, and Clarence (Lois) Brydges.
Friends may call at the OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME, 2215 Military Road, Niagara Falls, Niagara County, NY on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. where a funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 24th at 11 AM. Burial in Northridge Cemetery, Cambria, NY with Military Honors. If desired, memorial offerings may be made to a charity of ones choice.
