Miss Elizabeth Zeiger, 76 years old.
member of one of the pioneer families
of Niagara Falls, died yesterday at the
family home. 1115 Ferry avenue. She
was highly respected and much beloved
by a wide circle of friends and acquaintances,
who will mourn her death.
Miss Zeiger was born In the town of
Nlsgar or. March 21, 1852. Later she
moved to this city, where she had resided
ever since. She is survived by
one sister. Louisa Zeiger: one brother,
former City Treasurer Frank Zeiger.
and one cousin. Helnrich Uhl. She was
a daughter of the late Louis Zeiger.
who settled in western New York in
1847.
For the last seven years of her life
Miss Zeiger had been totally blind.
She studied and mastered, however, -tha
art of reading by means of raised letters,
which is the language of the
blind, and read much, keeping well i n formed
She also bravely overcame
her affliction to the extent of attending
to many household duties. Never
once did she utter a complaint despite
the affliction of blindness and always
she bore her lot with a cheerfulness and
fortitude which endeared her to all her
friends and acquaintances.
Funeral services will be held from
the home Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock.
