William H. Masterman, 55 years old,
2 Hoyt street, Buffalo, well-known in
this city, where he spent the greater
part of his life, was fatally injured yes-
terday In Troy, N. Y., when he was
struck by a hit-and-run driver In one
of the mam streets of that city. He
was taken to a hospital and died shortly
after being admitted.
Mr. Masterman was born In England
and came to Niagara Falls when a
child. He had been an employee of the
New York Central here, In Tonawanda
and Buffalo lor the past 39 years, starting
as a messenger in the Suspension
Bridge station. He was freight agent
successively at the Echota station, the
Fans street station and Suspension
Bridge station, going to Buffalo 1924.
He was then freight agent in Tonawanda
and later tn Black Rock, recently
being appointed freight agent
of the Adams street yards, Buffalo.
He had been In Troy only a few days
on business when he was killed. The
deceased had a wide circle of friends
fn Niagara Falls and was very popular
among those who worked under him
to the employ of the railroad company.
He is survived by bis wife, Mrs. Nellie
Masterman. and two children, Donald
and Dorothy Masterman, of Buffalo.
One sister, Ethel, of Los Angeles, Calif.,
and three brothers. Fred and Charles
of this city and Arthur of Ithaca, also
survive. Funeral arrangements have
not yet been made.
