Fahs-Shpebridge
St. Paul's Methodist church was
the setting for the lovely summer
wedding of Miss Elizabeth M. Shoebridge,
daughter of Mr. Robert C.
Shoebridge, Sr., of Vifth street,
and Mr. James P. Fahs, son of Mrs.
Walter E. Canning, of Fullerton,
Calif., on June 16 at 3 o'clock, with
the pastor, the Rev. John A. Redmond,
officiating.
. Tall baskets of gladioli, palms
and cathedral candelabra with white
satin bows marking the family pews
completed the decoration of the
church. At the request of the bride
and bridegroom Mrs. Raymond
Turver. organist, played favorite
selections by Tschaikovsky, Mendelssohn.
Grieg, Mascagni and Bach
preceding the ceremony.
Entering on the arm of her father,
the bride wore a gown of white taffeta,
the bodice having a dropshoulder
effect with long sleeves
and a basque waist. From gathers
at the hipline the full skirt ended
In a small train. From a coronet of
seed pearls the veil fell to fingtertip
length. She carried a small white
Bible with a lavender orchid tied
with streamers of white satin.
Miss Vera Clark, maid of honor
and only attendant, wore a gown
of pale blue marquisette with a
square n e c k l i n e , three-quarterlength
sleeves and basque waist, the
full skirt falling from gathers at
the hipline. Around both the neck
and hipline the dress was trimmed
with niching of the same material.
To complete her costume she wore
a small veil headdress and gloves to
match and carried a colonial bouquet
of yellow roses and contrasting
flowers tied with a yellow ribbon.
Mr. Thomas B. Richey, Jr., was
the best man and Mr. Robert Carlson
of Mr. J. F. Schumacher were
the ushers.
Immediately after the ceremony
at the church the members of the
wedding party and immediate familie.
s gathered at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Angus Maclntyre, of Chilton
avenue, aunt and uncle of the
bride, for an Informal reception.
The bride's table was centered with
a three-tiered wedding cake set In
roses. Tall crystal holders with Ivory
tapers completed the decoration.
For traveling the bride chose a
two-piece suit of navy, blue gabardine
with white accessories and
wore the orchid which she had in
her bridal bouquet. After a trip to
Montreal, Quebec, the couple will
be at home after July 1 at 246 Fifth
street.
Prenuptially, the bride and bridegroom
were entertained by Mrs.
Mortimer Jay Brown at an informal
tea at her home and the bride wa.s
entertained at parties by Mrs. John
J. Pickett. Mrs. W. D. McGahey
and the office employes of the Niagara
Falls Power company.
