- Jean P. Coleman, of Sanborn, NY, passed away on Tuesday, December 1, 2015, in Our Lady of Peace Nursing Residence, Lewiston, NY. She was born in Niagara Falls, NY, on February 15, 1932, the daughter of the late Irving H. and Eleanor [Wendt] Pokelwaldt.
Mrs. Coleman grew up on the family farm and graduated from North Tonawanda High School. She was a banquet manager for various hotels in the area, before retiring from the Holiday Inn in Amherst in 1986. After her retirement she traveled across the United States and wintered in Mesa, AZ.
She was the wife of the late Ronald G. Coleman, they eloped on Christmas Eve, he passed away in August of 2000. Mrs. Coleman is survived by three sons William Coleman of Niagara Falls, NY, Richard (Brenda) Coleman of Sanborn and Douglas (Pam) Coleman of Niagara Falls, NY, five grandchildren Eric (Vanessa) Coleman, Devon (Steve) Ohol, Katie Coleman, Kelly (Adam) Serrano and Rachel Coleman, several great grandchildren, one brother of Neil (late Helen) Pokelwaldt, a brother-law Robert Wray, also several nieces and nephews. She was the great grandmother of the late Adriana Bradley and sister of the late Ruth Wray.
Friends are invited to attend her funeral services on Saturday, December 12, 2015, at 11:00 AM at Hope United Methodist Church, 2914 Upper Mountain Road, Sanborn, NY, with Rev. Matthew Kofahl officiating.
Memorials may be made in her name to the Hope United Methodist Church.
