Marcus A. W. Haseley, a life long resident of Sanborn, was called to his eternal home on Sept.10, 2010 at Fairchild Manor, Lewiston, NY. He was 101. Mr. Haseley was born in the Town of Lewiston, NY on Jan 23, 1909, He was the son of Albert and Anna (Ferchen) Haseley and attended local schools. Mr. Haseley was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Sanborn where he served as President, Trustee, School Building Committee member, Cemetery Committee Chairman, and various other positions. He was also a member of the church choir for more than 50 yrs. He was also a member of the Historical Society of North German Settlements in Western New York. In his youth, Mr. Haseley worked on the family farm until he began working at J. J. Haseley & Sons produce farm in Sanborn. He marketed and delivered produce to the Niagara Falls & Clinton-Bailey Markets for over 50 years before retiring in 1980. He was the oldest exempt member of the Sanborn Fire Company (82 yrs.). In his retirement, he enjoyed gardening, and was known for his roadside produce stand. He was an avid golfer, watched hockey, football, and baseball and enjoyed pheasant and deer hunting in his earlier years. He married his wife of 69 yrs, the former Lizzie D. Pfohl on Jan 12, 1939. Lizzie died in 2008. Survivors include sons, Rev. Ronald M.(Joanne) of Greensburg, IN; Frederick W. (Christy) of Roseville, CA; Mark J.(Marilyn) of Ransomville; sister Lydia Stoelting of Wheatfield. He is also survived by five grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. He was brother to the late Norman, Wallace, Esther Beutel, William, Richard, Benjamin, and Albert. The family will be present Monday and Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Rhoney Funeral Home, Sanborn, 5893 Hoover Road. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday in St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 6167 Walmore Road, Sanborn at 11 AM. with Rev. Bruce M. Gamache officiating. Interment will be at St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery, Wheatfield, NY. Should friends desire, memorials may be made to St. Peter's Lutheran Church or Lutheran World Relief.
