- Albert Craig Wienke, age 67 of North Tonawanda, formerly of Wheatfield, NY, was called peacefully to his heavenly home on November 13, 2023 at Buffalo General Medical Center. He was the son of the late Herbert and Eleanor (DuBois) Wienke.Faith – Family – Football…Lifelong resident of Niagara County. Graduated from LaSalle Senior High School 1974. Attended NCCC earned Associates degree, Business Administration, 1976.Employed by local industry leaders including Carborundum, Norton and Saint Gobain, in various positions including Production Supervisor – for over 45 years. Retired September 2021. Dedicated employee and mentor. During senior year of high school, 1973 – 1974, received award for All League Football team, positions as Guard and Punter. Loved supporting many sports at all levels – especially football and baseball. Closely followed Buffalo, college and high school teams including Bills, Sabres, Braves, Bandits, UB Bulls, NU Purple Eagles, North Tonawanda and Starpoint school systems. Little league baseball coach and volunteer (late 1970s – 1980s). Player in Niagara County slo-pitch softball league, 1st baseman, for many years. Town of Wheatfield Recreation Dept. baseball coach approx.. 5 years. Avid supporter of his children’s activities and participation in Tae Kwon Do classes, dance recitals, school plays and musicals, participation in soccer, basketball, volleyball and track & field. Always there to provide support and guidance. Enjoyed taking care of home yard work and landscaping, walking family dogs and visiting family. Always open to enjoy travel adventures with spouse, Joyce, and children. Loved visiting the North Tonawanda city market and supported with his vote for #1 in USA for 2023. Steadfast Christian, faith throughout life. He was a lifelong member at St. James Lutheran Church, and served as Trustee and volunteered for related projects such as landscaping. Traveled to Israel in 2018 with a group from The Chapel Crosspoint Campus. Enjoyed reading the two local newspapers and Metro News, Bee and Tribune. Was well informed about local, state and national issues. Supported many charitable organizations including Buffalo City Mission, Feed More WNY, Samaritan’s Purse and Wounded Warrior Project. Ice cream was his favorite treat. When on vacation travels, ice cream and gelato were involved!Enjoyed attending high school class reunions and family reunions. Card player and bowling were fun activities. Survivors include his loving wife, Joyce Wienke (formerly Garey, Oswald);Two children, Alexander (spouse, Jessica and grandson, Easton), daughter, Kendra; two stepdaughters , Jessica Oswald, Julie Oswald; two brothers and two sisters, Tom (late, Betty), Carolyn Chapin (Marshal), Harris (Viicky), Janelle Peters (Late John); and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and dear friends. Visitation will take place at DuBois Funeral Home, 2436 Niagara Road, (Bergholz) in Wheatfield, on Friday – November 17, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Randy Kaminska, on Saturday – November 18 at 10:00 a.m. in St. James Lutheran Church, 2437 Niagara Road, Wheatfield, NY 14304. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center.
