- REV A. WALCK IS DEAD
SANBORN - The Rev, Alfred W. Walck Sr., 81, of 2940 Lockport Road, a Lutheran
clergyman for 57 years, died Sunday (Sept. 7, 1969) in Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. He was a native of Sanborn and celebrated the 50th anniversary of his ordination on Feb. 18, 1962. At that time he said, 'Tm deeply grateful and appreciative to the kindness and mercies of God for giving me the privilege of. serving Him and helping His people. The Rev. Mr. Walck was ordained after studies at the former
Martin Luther College, and Seminary in Buffalo. His first church was in Unionville, Mich., in 1912. In 1916 he went to St. Paul, Minn. for home mission work. He was in the St. Paul area 33 years, serving at Grace Lutheran and Hope Lutheran Churches. In 1949 the Rev. Mr. Walck went to Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Webster, N.Y. He was,
there 12 years, retiring in August, 1961. Since that time, he has been interim pastor at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, North Tonawanda, St. John's Lutheran Church; County Line, Concordia Lutheran Church at Byron Center, Trinity Lutheran Church, Wolcottsville, and St. Peters Lutheran Church, Walmore Road. He served at St. Peter's for 14 months, until Sept. 24, 1967. He was president emeritus and past secretary of the Lutheran Orient Mission Society and served on various mission boards. The Rev. Mr. Walck was married to the former Amanda Milleville for 53 years, until her death in 1965. He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Donald Wendt of Niagara Falls, Mrs. Walter Winness, of Chambersburg, Pa., and Miss Amanda Walck, a parish worker at Bethlehem Lutheran Church Morris, III. a son, the Rev. W. Walck Jr., of Madang, New Guinea; three brothers,'Rudolph C, William A., and Hubert E. Walck, all of here; a sister, Mrs. John Devantier, of Niagara Falls; and 11 grandchildren. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today and -from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Pike and Jones Funeral Home here. The Rev. Mr. Walck will lie in state, from noon until 2 p.m.
Wednesday, in St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Walmore Road, funeral-services will be
conducted at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Carl Duewe, interim pastor at St. Peter's. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery. The family said contributions may be made to the World Missions of the Lutheran Church as tribute.
