DECATUR - Herbert E. Haseley , 84, of Decatur died 12:20 p.m. Friday (Oct. 6, 2000) in Decatur Memorial Hospital. Services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday in St. John's Lutheran Church. Visitation was Sunday in J.J. Moran & Sons Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials: St. John's Lutheran Cemetery. Mr. Haseley was born in Bingham on Jan. 24, 1916, the son of Otto and Ada Johnson Haseley . Mr. Haseley worked as a laborer at A.E. Staley Mfg. Co. for 34 years, retiring in 1979. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and AIW Local 837. Mr. Haseley also was in the Army during World War II, serving much of his time in the Aleutian Islands. He married Norma C. Fruchtl on Feb. 23, 1946. Surviving are his wife of more than 54 years; sons, Steve Haseley and wife Sandy of Decatur; David Haseley and wife Pat of Niantic; daughter, Tonya Brueggemann and husband Alan of Dalton City; grandchildren, Laura Hawkins and husband Brian of Decatur; Jeni Pierce and husband Brian of Decatur; Tricia Miller and husband Landon of Cuba, Ill.; Abbey Haseley of Champaign; Jason Brueggemann of Dalton City; stepgrandsons, Gene Ooton and wife Debbie and Ronnie Ooton, all of Phoenix, Ariz.; three great-grandchildren; three great-stepgrandchildren; sister, Hilma Heitmann of Lindenhurst He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and two sisters.
