Past Falls Man Was Lutheran Pastor
MAUMEE, Ohio - Services were held Nov. 16 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Maumee, Ohio, for the Rev. Walter F. Williams, 78, a former Niagara County resident. Burial was in Fort Meigs Cemetery, Ohio. Williams died Nov. 6, 1989, at St. Luke's Hospital, Perrysburg, Ohio. Born in Sanborn, he was the son of Edward and Augusta Schultz Williams. He held a B.A. from Capital University, Columbus, Ohio; M.A. from Niagara University; and B.D. from the Evangelical Theological Seminary in Ohio. Before entering the seminary, he worked as a cost accountant for Electro Metallurigical (sic-sp) Co. in Niagara Falls. Williams was pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran Church from 1953 to 1974 when he retired. He had also served as pastor at Grace Lutheran Church in Berlin, Wisc., and St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Defiance, Ohio. Survivors include his wife, Ruth E. Schultz Williams; sons, the Rev. Philip Williams of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Stephen Williams of Cleveland, Ohio; four grandchildren; sisters, Mrs. James (Esther) Holladay of Florida and Mrs. Alfred (Martha) DeVantier of Sanborn. He was the brother of the late Arthur Williams, Melvin Williams, Mrs. Ed (Alice) Beutel Sr. and Mrs. William (Josephine) Buerger Sr.. all of Sanborn.
