Carbo employee for 41 years
WHEATFIELD - Gerhard "Gerry" W. DeVantier, 75, of Cayuga Drive Extension, died Wednesday (March 21, 1990) at his home.
The Wheatfield native worked at the Carborundum Co. Bonded Division in Niagara Falls 41 years, retiring in 1979. He was a lifelong member of St. James Lutheran Church and former trustee of the church, a member of the Carborundum Alumni Association, and an exempt member of the Bergholz Volunteer Fire Co.
His wife, Martha E. (Haseley) DeVantier, died Dec. 13, I986. He is survived by a son, Gary L. DeVantier of North Tonawanda; two daughters, Connie Washburn of North Tonawanda ,and Marcia A. DeVantier of Niagara Falls; a brother, Martin DeVantier of Bergholz, seven grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Norman DeVantier.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and Friday at the DuBois Funeral Home, 2436 Niagara Road, Bergholz, where the Bergholz Fire Co. will have a memorial service at 7 p.m. Friday.
The Rev. David B. Menz will conduct services at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church, Niagara Road, Bergholz. Burial will be in St. James Lutheran Cemetery, Bergholz.
Contributions to the church building fund are acceptable as tribute.
