SANBORN, Aug. 6 - The Rev.
Eugene W. Beutel, who was ordained
into the ministry of the America^
Lutheran church .July 27, presently
is awaiting orders to attend a sixweek
training course at Ft. Sldcum
in the school, for army chaplins.
Following his training. period, the
Rev. Mr. Beutel expects to be assigned
to duty at F t Lee, Va., for an
indefinite period.
' The ordination ceremony at which
his uncle, the Rev. Walter F. Williams,
formerly of Sanborn and now
serving a pastorate*in Berlin, Wis!,
was held at St Peter's. Lutheran
church here. Dr. Herbert C Leupold,
professor of the Old Testament
at the Capitol university theological
seminary, Columbus, O., preached
the sermon. Also assisting in the service
were the Rev. Edward A. Grobou,.
North .Tonawanda, former pastor
of St Peter's, now retired, who
served as lector, and the Rev. Martin
Pempeit, present pastor of St Peter's
who served as liturgist
'. Mr. and Mrs. Herman Treu, Cleveland,
O., college classmates, sang
two duets at the service and the St
Peter's choir sang an anthem. - The
offering was presented to the new
minister as a gift from the congregation.

The Rev. Mr. Beutel was graduated
from LaSalle high school, Niagara
Falls, in June, 1943, and in September
Of that year enrolled at Capitol
university. After completing his
junior year he served for two years
in the army corps of engineers and,
after ten months of service on Okinawa,
he was discharged as a second
lieutenant in October, 1947.
After his discharge frou the army,
the Rev. Mr. Beutel returned to
school and received ° his bachelor of
arts degree from Capitol in June,
1949, and thereupon entered the
theological seminary there. ~
On June 24, 1950, he was married
to Miss Dolores Hanson, Elli'cott
City, Md., and, after serving a year's
theological internship at Salem
Lutheran church, Detroit, he returned
to the seminary from which he
received . his bachelor of divinity
degree on June 1.
The Rev. and Mrs. Beutel, presently
residing in Lockport road, have
one child, a son, David Lee, born
on June 11.
