Vickie L. Haseley, of Pekin, passed away on Tuesday, May 19, 2009 in Niagara Hospice House, Lockport, NY. She was born in Niagara Falls, NY on January 27, 1957, the daughter of the late Howard E. and Alma M.C. (Esenwein) Baker.Vickie graduated from Niagara Wheatfield High School in 1975. She was a waitress at her brother's restaurant, Baker's Place in Sanborn, and later became a technician in the Occupational Health Department at Memorial Medical for over 17 years. She was an EMT and served as Vice President with Tri Community Ambulance, and was Past President of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Pekin Fire Company.Vickie loved spending time with her grandchildren and family. She enjoyed traveling, gardening and decorating.Vickie is survived by her husband of 32 years, Gregory R. Haseley; one son, Bryan R. (Lisa) Haseley of Niagara Falls, NY; one daughter, Jolene Haseley of Sanborn; "Mimi" of Madison, Logan, Erik and Haylee; one sister, Sharon (Paul) Siejka; one brother, Robert (Susan) Baker, both of Sanborn; daughter-in-law of Alice (late Raymond) Haseley; sister-in-law of Gordon (Sharen), Russell (Barbara), Robert (Dale) Haseley, Sandra (Donald) Slusser, Barbara (Bruce) Haseley, Deborah (John) Galleciez, Joyce (William) Schimschack, Brenda (Jeffrey) Marohn, Jeffrey (Kathy), Kevin (Lori), Glenn (Bonnie) and Brent (Deborah) Haseley. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.The family will be present at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 5893 Hoover Road, Sanborn, NY, on Wednesday from 7-9 PM and on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral service will be held Friday at 11:00 AM at the Calvary Lutheran Church, 4100 McKoon Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY, with the Rev. Robert J. Klinzing officiating. Memorials may be made in Vickie's name to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094. Interment in Mount View Cemetery, Town of Cambria, NY. Vickie L. Haseley, a former technician at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical
Center and a longtime member of a volunteer ambulance company, died Tuesday in
Niagara Hospice House, Lockport, after a lengthy battle with lung cancer. She
was 52.
Born Vickie Baker in Niagara Falls, she graduated from Niagara Wheatfield
Senior High School in 1975.
Her husband of 32 years, Gregory R., said he met his future wife when they
were in sixth grade at Niagara Wheatfield. They were in the same graduating
class.
"Just a super, loving, kind person," he said of his wife.
Mrs. Haseley was a waitress at her brother's restaurant, Baker's Place in
Sanborn, and later worked as a technician in the occupational health
department at Niagara Falls Memorial for 17 years. She held that job until
becoming ill about two years ago, her husband said.
She was vice president of Tri-Community Ambulance Company in Wheatfield in
1994 and a member of the company for about 15 years. She was a certified
emergency medical technician.
Mrs. Haseley also was a member of Pekin Fire Company, where she was a past
president of the Ladies Auxiliary.
She enjoyed traveling, gardening and decorating.
In addition to her husband, survivors include a son, Bryan R.; a daughter
Jolene; a sister, Sharon Siejka; and a brother, Robert Baker.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Calvary Lutheran Church, 4100 McKoon
Ave., Niagara Falls.
