BUFFALO (AP) - An automobile
smashed into a bridge
abutment then was backed 50
yards across a boulevard into a
creek Sunday in the suburban
Town of Tonawanda, police said.
Two bodies were later found in
the car.
Patrolman Robert J. Rowland
of the Town of Tona wanda said he
arrived at the scene moments
after the car hit the abutment. He
said he asked the driver to get
out.
The driver, later identified as
Alvin H. Cretsinger of Amherst,
"muttered something," Rowland
said, then backed the car into
Ellicott Creek.
Officers said the bodies of
Cretsinger, 66, and Estelle Rexicker,
62, of the City of Tonawanda
were found when the car
was pulled from the water.
Police said Cretsinger was a
widower and Mrs. Rexicker a
widow
