- HERBERT A. WALCK Mr. Herbert A. Walck, of the Town of Ridgeway, passed away on Saturday evening, March 1, 2008 at the Medina Memorial Hospital. Mr. Walck was born in Wheatfield, September 7, 1925, a son of the late Andrew and Edna (Wendt) Walck. On March 5, 1949, he married the former Janet Lund and the couple were longtime area residents. Active in the community, he was a member and Trustee of the Lyndonville United Methodist Church, Past President of the Lyndonville Lions Club, a longtime member of the Ridgeway Republican Committee and the Lyndonville Area Foundation. He was very interested in antique automobiles and was a member of the Pierce Arrow Club, Antique Automobile Association of America, Model T and Early V8 Club, and enjoyed attending Cruise Nights and the Hershey Flea Market. He was an avid reader. Twenty six years ago, he donated a kidney to his son, Stewart. He was employed by several Western New York publications including the Medina Journal Register, as a printer, and retired from FMC as a mechanic. He was well- known in the area for his heating and plumbing abilities. Survivors include his wife, Janet; a son, Stewart (Bonnie) Walck of Albion; two daughters, Sandra (Will) Zwink of Albany and Barbara (Michael) Halpern of Wilmington, NC; four grandchildren, Brenden, Alison, Jennifer and Jack; a sister, Margaret (Robert) Budnack of Newfane; two brothers, Earl Walck of Niagara Falls and Delbert (Margaret) Walck of Chesapeake, VA; two sisters-in-law, Jean Walck of Sanborn and Edna Walck of Ridgeway; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by two brothers, Lawrence and Clarence Walck and a sister, Edith Sherbert. There will be no prior calling hours. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, March 8, 2008 at 11AM at the United Methodist Church, 102 North Main Street, Lyndonville, with the Reverend Jennifer Green officiating. Interment will be in Lynhaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Kidney Foundation or Hospice of Orleans County.
