Elinor R. DeVantier, 78, an active member of St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church, died Wednesday (Dec. 18, 2002) in her Wheatfield home.
The former Elinor Burow was a lifelong resident of Wheatfield.
She had worked for Carborundum Co. and Sears, Roebuck & Co.
Mrs. DeVantier taught Sunday school at St. James and was an active member of Women of the Church. She also was a member of the Garden Club, the Senior Citizens, the Wheatfield Historical Society and the Republican Club.
She enjoyed baking and gardening.
Surviving are her husband of 54 years, Ray; a son, Daniel R. of Los Angeles; two daughters, Donna of Wheatfield and Deborah Bourne of Amherst; three sisters, Harriet Proksch of Niagara Falls, Marlene Zimmerman of North Tonawanda and May Carol Dalby of California; and two grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2 P.M. Saturday in St. James Church, 2437 Niagara Road, Bergholz.
