- Christine S. Guard, formerly of 73rd Street, of Heritage Manor, died on Wednesday, February 11, 2009 in Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. She was born in Peterhead, Scotland on April 20, 1924, a daughter of the late George and MaryJane (Stronach) Mess. She and her family moved to Niagara Falls when she was three. Mrs. Guard attended local schools and was graduated from Niagara Falls High School.She was employed by Union Carbide briefly and Moore Business Forms in the Press Room. She was a member of the LaSalle Church of Christ. She enjoyed playing the organ, rug hooking, family, her grandchildren and her Boston Terriers. Survivors include two children, Lenny D. Breeden (Cynthia) of Sanborn, James K. Breeden (Sandra) of Colorado Springs, CO; sisters-in-law, Doris Mess of Niagara Falls, Mildred Bialobrzewski of Sanborn; her dear cousin, Mary Powell; six grandchildren, Lenny Breeden, Jr. of Amherst, Jeremy Breeden (Krysta) of Sanborn, Joy B. Breeden of Manchester, NH, Madeleine, Marguerite and Mackenzie Breeden and a great grandchild, David. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by husbands L.D. Breeden and Herbert Guard; a brother, George Mess.Friends may call Monday from 2-4, 7-9 PM in the LANE FUNERAL HOME INC., 8622 Buffalo Avenue, where funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 AM. The interment will be in Riverdale Cemetery.The family extends their greatest appreciation to all of the staff and friends of Christine at Heritage Manor.In lieu of flowers, memorials, if desired, may be made to a charity of ones choice.
