NORTH TONAWANDA - Harold H. Heuer, age 89, of Wheatfield, was called to his heavenly home to be with our Lord on Sunday, August 29, 2010 at DeGraff Memorial Hospital. Born in the Town of Wheatfield, NY, on April 15, 1921 to the late John and Esther (Mueller) Heuer. Harold was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving during World War II in the 896th Signal Company. He was employed at Hooker Chemical for 40 years and a half years until his retirement. Harold was a member of St. John Ev. Lutheran Church in Wheatfield and their Men's Club, American Legion Wheatfield Post 1451, Bergholz Volunteer Fire Co., Lutheran Layman's League, Town of Wheatfield Senior Citizens, North German Historical Society; volunteered at Meals On Wheels, Elderwood Health Care at Crestwood and North Gate Health Care Facility. Hobbies and interests included gardening, bowling and playing euchre.
Survivors include his wife, Jane E. (Pankow) Heuer. They were united in marriage February 9, 1946; four children, Curtis (Jeanne) Heuer, Mary (Henry) Striewing, Mark (Minerva) Heuer and Steven (Ann) Heuer; a brother, James Heuer; sister, Lydia Masters; five grandchildren, Nathan Heuer, Michael and Matthew Striewing, Virginia Kahmann and Jonathan Heuer; and a great-granddaughter, Briahnna Lynn. He was predeceased by a brother, Clarence Heuer and a sister, Dorothy Wolf.
Friends may call at the DUBOIS FUNERAL HOME, 2436 Niagara Road (Bergholz), in Wheatfield, on Wednesday from 5-8 PM. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Ronald D. Oravec on Thursday at 10:30 AM in St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, corner Niagara Falls Blvd. and Ward Road. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
