Kathryn Ann Heuer, 85, of Niagara Falls, a bookkeeper for David C. Heuer and Sons Market for 40 years, died Tuesday (Feb, 4, 2003) in St. Mary's Manor here after a long illness.
Born Kathryn Boyle in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., she moved to Niagara Falls as an infant with her family. She graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1935 and later from the Kelly Business Institute in Niagara Falls.
Her first job was switchboard operator at the Niagara Falls Gazette during the Great Depression, and later she worked for the Carborundum Co. She also worked for 14 years at Niagara University's Novena Office, the fund-raising arm of the university, retiring in 1979 as a supervisor.
"Her faculty for numbers was exceeded only by her passion for music," said a family friend. She loved to play piano and organ for family and friends. She was a member of Our Lady of Lebanon Catholic Church's Mothers Club and the Ladies of Charity organization.
Her husband, Elmer G. "Sam," died in June 2000.
Survivors include two sons, Andrew of Niagara Falls and Frederick of Lewiston; a daughter, Christine Schnepf of Niagara Falls; and seven grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at noon Saturday in St. Mary of the Cataract Church, 259 Fourth St., Niagara Falls. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston
