Mildred M. Hurtgam Co-Owner/Operator of Hurtgam Farms
Mildred M. Hurtgam, age 88 formerly of Ridge Rd., Town of Cambria, NY, was called to her eternal home on Sunday, November 17, 2002 in the Mt. St. Mary's Long Term Health Care Facility in Niagara Falls, NY. Mrs. Hurtgam was born July 21, 1914 in the Town of Wilson, NY, the daughter of the late Fred and Selma (Winters) Schultz. She was married to Herbert R. Hurtgam on March 7, 1935. Together they owned and operated Hurtgam Farms in the Town of Cambria for many years, taking their eggs and produce to the North Tonawanda and Niagara Falls City Markets. Mr. Hurtgam passed away on September 9, 1991. Mrs. Hurtgam was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church at North Ridge and very active in its' Ladies Aid Society for which she had served as Secretary and Treasurer. She was a member of the Newfane Golden Agers and the Sanborn Friendship Club. She enjoyed sending and receiving greeting cards. She is survived by two sons, Jerry (Brenda) Hurtgam of Ransomville, and Charles (Maggie) Hurtgam of Greene, NY; a sister, Eleanor Eckert and a brother, Carlton (Eleanor) Schultz both of Newfane; her grandchildren, Jeff (Harmony) Hurtgam, Jay (Cassandra) Hurtgam, Jodie Hurtgam, Robert (Nicole) Lewis, and Richard (Penny) Lewis; her great grandchildren, Melissa, Randy, Chris, and Jordan Lewis; her sisters-in-law, Jenny, Alvera, Martha, and Donna Schultz. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by 6 brothers, Leonard, Clarence, Wallace, Willard, Harold, and Ronald Schultz; and 3 sisters, Alma Kopp, Irene Bohnstadt, and Evelyn Lounsbury. Friends may call Tuesday from 7-9 PM and Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Hardison Funeral Home, 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville, NY. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, November 21 at 11:00 am in St. Peter's Lutheran Church at North Ridge, 4169 Church Rd., Town of Cambria, with the Rev. William Carney officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mildred's memory may be made to St. Peter's Lutheran Church at North Ridge, 4169 Church Rd., Lockport, NY 14094.
