Services for John R. Schultz, a captain in the Niagara County Sheriff's Department, will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday in St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 4169 Church St., North Ridge, Cambria. Burial will be in North Ridge Cemetery, Cambria.
Schultz, 42, died Sunday (Oct. 27, 1991) at his home on Sunset Drive after a long illness.
A native of Wilson, he moved to the Town of Lockport 21 years ago.
Schultz was a graduate of Wilson Central High School and Niagara County Community College, where he received an associate's degree in liberal arts in 1969. He joined the Niagara County Sheriff's Department in November 1970 and was a member of the U.S. Army Reserve.
He was a member of the Niagara County Sheriff's Association, the National Rifle Association, the Buffalo Zoological Society and the National Wildlife Federation and was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Cambria.
Survivors include his wife, the former Jenny Dent; two daughters, Laura Lynne Newton of Niagara Falls and Jonni V.; his mother, Alvera Rusch Schultz of Wilson; two brothers, David and Duane, both of Wilson, and two sisters, Shirley Kroening of Cambria and Diane.
