Robert A. Strasburg

LEWISTON — Robert A. Strasburg, a longtime resident of Niagara Falls, died on Friday, May 25, 2012 in Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence. He was 88.
Born in Niagara Falls on June 18, 1923, the son of Albert F. and Clara A. (Schultz) Strasburg. He attended schools here and graduated from the former LaSalle Jr./Sr. High School. Robert served in the US. Army during WW II and was honorably discharged as Staff Sergeant with the 16th Infantry Regiment 1 St Division on April 11, 1946. He was a past member of the American Legion LaSalle Post 1142. He worked for the Carborundum Company, Kimberly Clark, Invenex and retired from Remington Rand.
A member of Grace Lutheran Church since childhood, Robert enjoyed hunting, fishing, carpentry and raising pheasants. He was a former member of the LaSalle Sportsman's Club. He enjoyed building birdhouses and shipped them to family and friends around the country. He loved his daily visits with his friends at the Fashion Outlets and attending various sporting events at Niagara University.
He is survived by three daughters, Diane (Garry) Carr of Youngstown, Denise Hoover (Dennis) of Ransomville, and Debra Roberts (Mike Brabec) of Lewiston; two brothers, Albert Strasburg of Winterhaven, FL and Richard Strasburg of Phoenix, AZ; a sister, Joanne Milliville of the Town of Wheatfield; ten grandchildren, Gretchen (Ron) Kadlecik; Brian (Karola), Darryl (Brandy) and Daniel Carr; Christopher, Keith (Maryellen) and Kevin (Meagan) Becken; Scott, Michael and Sarah Dale; 14 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Charles, Donald, William and John Strasburg.
Friends may call Tuesday from 4-8 PM in the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 8622 Buffalo Avenue, where funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 AM, with his pastor from Grace Lutheran Church, the Rev. Matthew Sorenson, officiating. The interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lewiston, NY.
