Frances Schwenk Evans Honored at Party

TURIN - An open House party to celebrate Frances Evans' 90th birthday was held Saturday. July 3, at the Turin Firehouse. hosted by her family.
Approximately 300 people came and deluged Fran with happy birthday wishes. Just about every relative came from between' the west coast and east coast
Frances was born on April 27, 1914. the fourth of five children born to Marian and Harry Schwenk. George and Henry Schwenk owned the Schwenk Brothers HoteL Constableville, which is now known as Hotel Parquet Her siblings. Helen. Mildred and Margaret are all deceased. Her baby sister Loretta Hayes
resides on High Street in Constableville.
The Schwenks left the hotel In 1921 after Henry passed away. Marian and children: moved to a small farm on Route 26 in Constableville, just north 0/where Qutk *N. E-Z is today. Back in those days their house was known to one and afl as 'Mount Mortah.'
In 1932. Frances married Charles' Evans {deceased in 1998) and they had five children: Charles (Sonny) Evans (deceased); Marilyn Morrow of Keystone Heights. Beverly Myers. Stanley Evans. Port .Leyden; and Aleatha Cook of Festus. MO. Frances also still considers Terry (and George) Cataldo of Glenfield part of her family. Frances has 27 grandchildren 24 great-grandchildren and two great-greats, along with several step-grandchildren.
In her younger years. Fran worked as a cashier in the South Lewis School System as wefl as Snow Ridge Ski Resort She has been a resident of the West Road in Turin since her marriage to Charlie, and remembers when Constablevllle was a bustling little town with two blacksmiths, three grocery stores, a notions store, two hardware stores, a drug store, a steam mill, three churches, a taxi service, one school, and yes. three saloons' besides thefr hotel:
Frances has always been active and has many friends. She was a longtime' bowler, still loves to play cards, and is a great fan of baseball on television-. She crochets and knits and has made ah afghan for each and every grandchild that comes along. She likes to travel and still gets to see fter family and out-of-state childreri -as often as possible. Frari is always fun to be around. She loves a party and thoroughly enjoyed this one celebrating her 90th birthday and spending tune with everyone*
