Lived on Slayton Settlement Road
GASPORT- Hazel (Mietz) Halstead, 73, of Holley, N. Y., formerly of Slayton Settlement Road, died Sunday (Aug. 20, 1989) in Medina Memorial Hospital. The Lockport native was the daughter of Rudolph and Rosa (Hintz) Mietz. She was the widow of Kenneth B. Halstead, who died July 31, 1985. She had lived in Holley for a year. Mrs. Halstead was a member of the Gasport Jet Setters, the Lockport Senior Citizens, the Middleport Senior Citizens, the United Auto Workers Retirees and Travel Club, the Royalton Historical Society, and the Spencerport Senior Citizens. She was an avid supporter of the POW-MIA and the National Audubon Society. She is survived by sons, Paul Halstead of Albion and Daniel Halstead of Spencerport; daughters, Naomi Zink of Brockport, and Mary DeMattina of Lexington, Ky.; a brother, Howard Mietz of Middleport; and six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Sherrie Bream Funeral Home, 4521 Main SI. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Zion Lutheran Church, 4447 Central Ave., with the Rev. Rodney Klinzing officiating. Burial will be in Royalton Mountain Ridge Cemetery. Contributions to the MIA- POW Task Force Omega of Iowa, 202 Grand Ave., Spencer, Iowa, 51301 are acceptable as tribute.
