- Retired GM Employe Dies at 70
LOCKPORT - Frank H Giertz, 70, of 327 N. Transit St., died of a heart attack at his home Friday (Aug. 22, 1969). He was born Oct. 2, 1898, in the Town of Royalton, the son of Frederick and Augusta (Martin) Giertz. He had been employed at the Harrison Radiator Division, General Motors Corp., for 26 years and retired six years ago because of ill health. Mr. Giertz lived most of his life in Gasport and moved to Lockport 28 years ago. Survivors include his widow, the former Leona Buehring; a son, Elton E. of Lockport; two grandchildren. Spec. 4C. Richard Giertz, currently with the U.S. Army in Vietnam, and Mrs. Duane Godfrey of Lockport ; two great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call Sunday and Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Wallace and Heath Funeral Home Inc., 38 State St., Middleport, and Tuesday from 1 to 2 p.m. at St. Michael's Lutheran Church, Wolcottsville, where funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m., the Rev. Hilbert Huth officiating. The funeral services were rescheduled from Monday to await the arrival of Mr. Giertz' grandson from Vietnam. Burial will be in St. Michael's Lutheran. Cemetery.
