Veteran Lumber City Fire Fighter Dies
NORTH TONAWANDA, June 20 - Herbert F. Zastrow, 75, of 214 Schenck street, a member for 50 years of the Columbia Hook and Ladder company, died today at the DeGraff Memorial Hospital after a short illness. Born in Germany, Mr. Zastrow lived here for the last 50 years. He was a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran church and of the North Tonawanda Firemen's Benevolent Association. Surviving are his wife, Emma; two sons, Elmer, North Tonawanda, and Harold, Bogata, N.J.; one daughter, Mrs. John Gunderman of Buffalo, and four sisters, Mrs. Frank Quester and Mrs. Fred Wendt, both of Niagara FAlls, N.Y., and Mrs. Emma Holland and Mrs. Edward Ellman, both of North Tonawanda. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Wattengel Funeral home, 307 Oliver street, and at 2:30 p.m. at St. Matthew's church with the Rev. Paul Gassman officiating. Interment will be in St. Matthew's cemetery.
