Walter Ostwald Succumbs to Heat
Prostrated by the heat while driving his automobile last Thursday, Walter L. Ostwald, 53, a lifelong resident of North Tonawanda and well known builder and contractor, died Saturday at his home, 1269 Payne avenue. His death was the second in two weeks in North Tonawanda attributed to heat prostration. Arthur W. Joerg, a neighbor, being the other victim. Ostwald was a veteran of World War I and a member and director of Tonawandas Post, No. 264, American Legion, and the Eldredge Bicycle Club. He is survived by his wife, Julie, nee Kinner; a daughter, Mrs. Henry Monnett; four brothers, William, Arthur, George and Norman, and six sisters, Mrs. John Karkau, Mrs. Albert Roseske, Mrs. Arthur Veilhauer, Mrs. Herbert Leverentz, Mrs. William Proefrock and Mrs. Adolph Gentzmer, all of the Tonawandas. Funeral services will be conducted tomorrow at 2 p.m. from the family residence by the Rev. Paul Fretthold. Interment will be in Rest Haven.
