Philip Martin Dies; Well Known in Cities
Philip Martin, 78, former prominent North Tonawanda contractor, died this
morning in his home, 32 Newton Ave., Newfane, after a long illness.
A resident of the Tonawandas for the greater part of his life, Mr. Martin
was a charter member of Grace Lutheran Church and the Sweeney Hose Company.
He was affiliated with the Firemen's Benevolent Association.
He is survived by his wife, Matilda; three sons, Clarence and Jason,
Newfane; Laurence, Syracuse; a daughter, Mrs. Olin Goodhue; nine
grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Two brothers, Fred, North
Tonawanda, and Henry, Arkansas, Kan., also survive.
Services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Hamp Funeral Home. The Rev.
Hermann B. Miller will officiate.
