Esther Cruickshank Ex-area Merchant Dies In Florida
Funeral services have been held for former Niagara Falls resident Esther M. Cruickshank, 70, of Lantana, Fla., who once operated two local businesses with her husband, She died in John Fitzgerald Kennedy Hospital in Lantana Tuesday (March 19, 1985). Mrs. Cruickshank and her husband, Duncan S. Cruickshank Sr., ran the LaSalle Sports Shop on Buffalo Avenue until about 1964. They later operated Esther's Flower and Produce Shop on River Road in Wheatfield until retiring, They had maintained residences in Niagara Falls and Florida, "That was her whole life, the family and the business," said her daughter-in-law, Judith Cruickshank, of Wheatfield, "She worked very hard all those years." A native and longtime resident of Niagara Falls, Mrs. Cruickshank enjoyed flowers and growing things, her daughter-in-law said, She is survived by a son, Duncan S. Cruickshank III of Wheatfield; daughters, Mrs. Herbert (Joan) Stauffer and Mrs. John (Jean) Haseley of Lantana; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; a brother, Leonard Johnson of Niagara Falls; sisters, Mrs. George (Dodie) Frost of Lewiston, Mrs. William (Dot) Barber of Port Orange, Fla. and Mrs. George (Ann) Cruickshank of Lantana and Niagara Falls, She was the sister of the late Mrs. Robert (Florence) Young who had lived in Niagara Falls. Funeral services were held Friday in Lantana.
