NORTH TONAWANDA — Doris M. (Shamrock) Papoi entered into rest on September 23, 2012, at age 91. Doris is predeceased by her beloved husband, Joseph; her cherished daughter, Donna; great-grandson, Jason; her brother and sister-in-law, Art "Sonny" and Louise Shamrock; and her parents, Arthur and Esther Shamrock. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Vince Pearson; her grandchildren, David (Cindy) Pearson, Scott (Christine) Madole, Jennifer Madole, Deanna (Kirk) Vincent; great-grandchildren, Meagan, Justin, Nicholas, Matthew, Nathan, Nick, John and James; great-great-grandchildren, Kamryn and Aviana; nephew, Mike (Joan) Shamrock; and great-nephew, Michael (Amanda) Shamrock.
Doris was born in and lived nearly her entire life in North Tonawanda. She moved to the Rochester area two years ago to be near family. Doris was a lifelong member of Grace Lutheran Church, and many people who knew Doris will remember her from her days at The Sample Department Store on Payne Avenue, where she worked for 20 years.
With an amazing sense of humor, quick wit and kind heart, Doris could talk to anyone, anywhere at any time and place. She would often fondly recall stories from her days working at the Wurlitzer Factory on Niagara Falls Boulevard and Poppy sales with her girlfriends during World War II. She was a joy and inspiration to her family, friends, and all who knew her. She will be greatly missed.
Calling hours are on Thursday from 3-7 PM at John O. Roth Funeral Home, 25 William St., Tonawanda. A funeral service will be held on Friday at 10 AM at Grace Lutheran Church, corner of Payne Ave. and Robinson St., North Tonawanda, followed by a burial at Acacia Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Lung Association.
