- Alfred J. Grabka 85 of Niagara Falls, NY passed away on Monday, March 2, 2015 after a brief illness. Born in Niagara Falls on January 18, 1930 he was the son of the late Joseph and Agnes (Neumann) Grabka. He was a member of the Army National Guard, at one point being stationed at Fort Bliss, El Paso, Texas, where his unit was activated during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He retired after 30 years of service as a Chief Warrant Officer and then joined the NF Board of Education. Working there as a visual/audio technician until his retirement in 1992. He was a member and past commander of the American Legion Portage Post #1465, Knights of Columbus and a former usher at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, gardening and spending time with family and friends.He is survived by his wife of 61 years Victoria C. (Siuta) Grabka; daughters Lynne (David) DiPaolo and Judy (Robert) Shapiro; sons Lawrence and Joseph Grabka; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren Victoria, Emma and Arthur. All of whom he loved beyond words. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brother, Robert E. Grabka and sister Eleanor Zawadzki.Friends may call Thursday, March 5th from 2-6 PM at ZAJAC FUNERAL HOME INC., 319 24th Street, cor. of Welch Ave., Niagara Falls, NY, where funeral services will begin Friday March 6th at 9:00 AM. Followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 9:30 am at Divine Mercy Parish, 2437 Niagara Street, Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Jacek Mazur officiating. Burial Following in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Lewiston, NY. Flowers are gratefully declined.
