Robert E. Argy, 72, of 1829 Linwood Ave., president
of the Argy and Sons Heating and Sheet Metal Corp.,
2939 Lockport Road, died Wednesday (May 12, 1965) at
Mount St. Mary's Hospital after a 10-day illness.
He was born in Hudson
Falls Jan. 18, 1893, the son of
Mr. and Mrs. James Argy. He
came to Niagara Falls In 1903.
When his father, general superintendent
of the Cliff Paper
Mill, died in 1930, Mr.
Argy succeeded him as general
superintendent and continued
in that position until
the firm went out of business
In 1932.
He then worked as a salesman
for the Niagara Hardware
Co. until he established
his own company In 1934.
Mr. Argy served one enlistment
In the 42nd Reserves of
the New York National Guard.
He was an active sportsman,
particularly In hunting and
fishing. He was a member of
the Holy Name Society of
Sacred Heart Church.
Mr. Argy is survived by his
widow, Catherine Sullivan
Argy; three, daughters, Miss
Helen V. Argy And Mrs. Donald
(Rose Marie) Lingenfelter,
both of Niagara Falls and
Mrs. Clarence (Jane) Gilpatrick,
Rochester; four sons,
Paul E. Argy, Niagara Falls;
Donald O. Argy, Grand Island;
William B. Argy, Washington,
D.C. and Robert M
Argy. Pittsburg. Pa
Also surviving are four
brothers, Edward P. Argy,
Michael J. Argy and Charles
Argy, all of Niagara Falls,
and William Argy, Watertown;
four sisters, Sister Mary
Pascal, Sisters of Mercy, Batavia,
and Mrs. Catherine
Cronin, Mrs. John D. (Louise)
Cramer and Mrs. John (Marion)
Kennedy, all of Niagara
Falls, and 28 grandchildren.
Services will be held at 8:30
a.m. at the Rhoney Funeral
Home and at 9:15 a.m. at
Sacred Heart Church. Burial
will be in Gate of Heaven
Cemetery.
The Sacred Heart Holy
Name Society will meet at
the funeral home at 8 p.m.
Friday to say the Rosary.
