Frank A. 'Pop Man Frank' Borgese, 94, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 31, 2016 in Our Lady of Peace Health Care Facility surrounded by his loving family. Frank was born on September 11, 1921 in Niagara Falls, NY to the late Anthony and Alberta (nee Certo) Borgese.
A Niagara Falls native he was a graduate of Niagara Falls High School. During WWII, Frank served in US Navy on the Sub Chaser US SC 733. Frank worked in the family business Star Bottling Works which was founded by his father and served as president from 1973 until his retirement in 1983. On June 7, 1997, Frank married the former Jennie (Morreale) Cicchetti in St. Joseph Church. His first wife, Marie (Paradise) passed away on December 2, 1971. Frank was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who enjoyed family traditions, and spending time with his family and friends. In 2002 Frank received the "Cittadini Speciale" Award from the Pine Avenue Business Association at the Annual Italian Festival. After his retirement, Frank enjoyed the outdoors he could often be seen walking on Goat Island which he did faithfully. He was an avid NY Yankees Fan, and a member Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph Parish and John J. Welch American Legion Post #381.
Frank is survived by his beloved wife, Jennie E. (nee Morreale) Borgese of Niagara Falls, NY; three daughters, Alberta (Murray) DeMartino of Grand Island, NY, Irene (Frank) Felicetti of Lewiston, NY and Marie (James) Massaro also of Grand Island, NY; two stepchildren, John J. (Joanne) Cicchetti of Lewiston and Elaine (Patrick) Destino of Avondale, AZ; eleven grandchildren, Marie (Lenny) LeBlanc, James J. (Karolyn) Massaro, Marie Catherine DeMartino, Frank (fiancÈe Katie Mohr) Felicetti, II, Lisa Mackenna, Anthony (Ashley) Massaro , Laura Massaro, Elizabeth Borgese, Mary Borgese, Christina Destino and Jenna Destino, nine great-grandchildren; his sister Carmela "Connie" Borgese and many nieces, nephews, sisters and brothers-in-law and cousins. Frank was predeceased by his parents; his first wife the late Marie I. (Paradise) Borgese; his son, the late Anthony (late Sharon) Borgese; seven siblings, the late Martha (late Dominic) Previte, late Margaret Borgese, late Joseph (Angie) Borgese, late Candelor 'Ken' (late Anna) Borgese, late Frances (late Peter) Rao, late Henry Borgese, late Infant Francesco Borgese and the late Mary Borgese.
The family will be present to receive friends on Friday from 4-8 PM at the SPALLINO-AMIGONE FUNERAL HOME, 1300 Pine Ave., Niagara Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph Parish at St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls on Saturday at 12:00 Noon. Please assemble at church. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Family and friends invited. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Frank's memory to Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph Parish or a charity of one's choice.
